Himalayan Life – Hope and prospects for children and families in Nepal

Himalayan Life is a non-profit organisation that has been working tirelessly for many years to improve the lives of children, young people and families in Nepal in the long term. Its goal: protect vulnerable children, create educational opportunities and offer disadvantaged people new prospects through social projects.

With a variety of initiatives – including street children projects, school programmes, child protection centres and social enterprises – Himalayan Life is bringing about holistic change. A particular focus is on strengthening personal responsibility and providing long-term help towards self-help. The Himalayan Life Plastics project is an outstanding example of how environmental protection, social commitment and economic development can go hand in hand.

Plastic as an opportunity: the Himalayan Life Plastics project

Plastic waste is a ubiquitous problem in Nepal. Every day, countless PET bottles end up on streets, in rivers and in nature. This is exactly where Himalayan Life Plastics comes in: the team collects used plastic bottles, recycles them into high-quality rPET granulate and thus not only reduces the burden on the environment, but also creates valuable jobs and economic opportunities for disadvantaged people.

What makes the project so special is that it combines environmental protection with social responsibility. People who were previously on the margins of society are given a new perspective through their work at Himalayan Life Plastics – and at the same time make an important contribution to reducing the plastic problem in Nepal.

Our contribution: ensuring quality, building trust

Sometimes it’s more than just technology. We had the opportunity to support the Himalayan Life Plastics team with a donation of our PS25C pellet scanner. This device enables precise quality control of recycled rPET granules.

Why is this so important? Without reliable quality control, production batches can vary greatly – which can lead to unnecessary waste and a loss of trust among customers. With the PS25C, Himalayan Life Plastics employees now carry out daily quality checks, ensuring the reliability of their products – a crucial step in establishing themselves as a professional and trustworthy partner in the market.
